Candle Care
A few small habits for a cleaner, longer, more even burn, and the most scent from every jar.
Let it pool
On the first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edges before blowing it out, usually 2 to 3 hours. This prevents tunnelling and sets the candle up for an even burn every time after.
Trim the wick
Trim to about 5mm before each burn. A short wick means a steady flame, less soot, and a cleaner jar. Snap off any blackened tip once the wax has set.
Keep it under 4 hours
Burn in sessions of no more than four hours. Give the candle a rest, let it cool, re-trim, and relight when you're ready for more.
Mind the draught
Set your candle on a heat-safe surface away from draughts, vents and anything flammable. Draughts make the flame dance, which causes uneven burning and soot.
Know when to stop
Retire the candle when about 1cm of wax remains. Burning past that point can overheat the glass, and it's the perfect excuse to choose your next scent.
Reuse the jar
Once finished, pop the leftover wax in the freezer for a few hours, lift it out, and wash the jar with warm soapy water. A clean little vessel, ready for its next life.
A quick safety note
Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Stop use if the flame gets too large or flickers repeatedly.
